The Saturn Press
General Description:
The Saturn rotary press for pressing 1 layer tablets with one outlet. First manufactured in 1996, the Saturn has established a reputation for reliability and economy, and has proven itself to be ideal for long production runs as well as for short production runs by contract manufacturers. The Saturn is capable of pressing tablets up to 55 mm in diameter by 33 mm high at a production rate of up to to 68,400 tablets/hour.
The PLC based press controls are customized to each customer’s requirements. The Saturn press is also available with simplified manual controls (i.e., equipped adjustment hand wheels) for tight budgets. Linotech Presses employ Siemens PLCs with 12 inch touch screen HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces) with different access levels for operators and supervisors.
Surfaces are made of stainless steel or application-specific corrosion resistant coatings. The enclosures are safety interlocked with a smooth fit and finish for product containment. The compression chamber can be kept under negative air pressure to reduce operator exposure to dust.
The turrets have hard chrome plating on the working surfaces. Punch holders ride in lubricated bushings. The turrets are driven by powerful AC motors coupled with frequency inverters. The turret drives have enough torque so that the presses can be restarted under full load without any problem.
