Granulating Wet Masses of Pharmaceutical Formulations

Wet granulation involves mixing dry powders in a granulator with a liquid binding agent causing the wet mass to agglomerate into granules. From the granulator, the wet mass can be transferred to a wet/dry cone mill to resize the granules to the proper size before drying.

The granules can be dried in a pan dryer or a fluid bed dryer. The dried product can also be processed further by passing it through a cone mill to achieve the proper granule size distribution.
